The birth nakshatra is the lunar mansion containing the natal Moon in the sidereal zodiac. Its pada identifies a quarter within that mansion. This page isolates the Moon's nakshatra and pada so visitors do not need to search a full planetary table.

What does the nakshatra number identify?
It identifies the lunar mansion in the engine's ordered nakshatra sequence. It is distinct from the twelve-sign zodiac numbering.
Can the pada change without the nakshatra changing?
Yes. A pada is a quarter inside the lunar mansion. Moving across an internal quarter boundary changes pada while retaining the mansion.
Does this form return the Sun's nakshatra?
No. This dedicated birth-nakshatra result projects the natal Moon's mansion and pada. It does not substitute another planet's mansion.
What is a birth nakshatra?
It is the lunar mansion occupied by the Moon at the recorded birth instant in the selected sidereal convention.
What does pada mean?
A pada is one quarter of a nakshatra. It refines the Moon's position within that mansion.
Is nakshatra the same as Moon sign?
No. Both use the Moon's position, but a zodiac sign and a lunar mansion divide the zodiac differently.

Yes. A zodiac sign can overlap more than one lunar mansion.
Can an uncertain birth time affect pada?
Yes. A small change near a pada boundary can change the quarter, even when the Moon sign stays the same.
